Bridge Screw

What are the two big huge bolt screws with the allen things for? Right next to each side of the saddles.

They anchor the bridge to the body of the Bass and also prevent the saddles from moving sideways.

Well, three tiny wood screws? Noooo, remove the bolts and you'll understand ANCHORING

I did remove the bolts. It's all rusty on the finish and bridge under where the bridge sits. Any way to clean that up or no? It's a 1993 Sterling, BTW.
