Bringing used guitar into Uk from US ?

Hi guys,
any general advice on buying and bringing a guitar across from the states to UK
NB : this would be a private trade for a used guitar
Customs, shipping etc ?

I don't know about bringing it in on a plane, but if you ship it, there will be a customs cahrge. I shipped a Strat the the UK as a gift (it wasn't) and the guy still had to pay some kind of customs tax. You might be able to get by if you check it or carry it on.
