I have bad GAS for a brown pickguard. Standard Ray with truss notch. Flat Chocolate brown. The problem is that the manufacturers are telling me that the plastics manufacturers discontinued brown. WhyTF?!

Does anyone have one? I have a white pearl and a black pickguard. I can buy brown or trade for it. I just think it will give my 2007 black/maple ray that finished look.

Please help.

If it's black, you want tort.

Or abalone, which I've heard is the new tort.

i want a flat brown. Tortoise shell and abalone are both textured finishes correct?

I have tried pickguardheaven (apparently they cut all the pickguards for EB MM...

The plastics manufacturers discontinued producing brown plastic. That's the case for another popular pickguard cutter as well.
The perfect pickguard would be the brown/creme/brown

they have on thier website, but like i said, discontinued.

I went with
134_baltic_amber.jpg
which is attractive but not what i had in mind.

Here's what i'm going for:

Hmm... Chandler - AKA Pickguardheaven still lists it as available, but I guess you have already struck out with them.
WD has a plain brown single layer brown one Musicman Stingray Bass Pickguards in Chocolate Brown - WD Music
Jeannie most likely has what you want, but you would never be able to tell squat by looking at their website: JEANNIE PICKGUARDS HOME PAGE best bet there is calling and talking to Roger.
I used to have a Root Beer Fender Jazz with a Brown-White-Brown guard. I liked the way it looked. The bass has moved on, but I still have the guard waiting for the right new application.

Heard WD pickguards are not recommendable. I didn't get a good feeling from them anyways.

Still no one with any ideas?

Talked to Roger. Nicest guy. I wish the whole world still worked his way. He told me to buy a transparent pickguard and sand down the back and spray paint it brown. Not what i had in mind. I really wish I could go through him though. Supporting guys like that always feels really good.

If ANYONE has alternative sugestions... let me know.

OT: Do you have any pics of the baltic amber PG on your SR? I was considering buying one for a bass I have.

Worst case scenario, if you're desperate, you can just go ahead and do your own... It just takes something like 10minutes once you've found the right material.

Here's the one I made out of a road sign... Great for the lights shows!

That's my alternative suggestion...

I replaced my SUB 5's pg for a white one. A close family friend works wonders with wood, so I had it made from white formica ( the original pg on the sub is a piece of formica with some, i think is aluminum on top of it ).. You can pretty much make one urself.. not necessarily from formica. I think i nice piece of PVC will do the trick, though I'm not sure if PVC comes in brown..

Im thinking about getting my PG re-done with white PVC, not that what I have looks crappy in anyway, .. I just want to have it made again :)
