I put in an order in the beginning of October and still have yet to see my axe! Is it taking longer than normal these days? My birthday just passed and I was hoping to have it by then!

Rush,
I think you'll hear that the time is usually at least 3 months and maybe a week or 2 more. I ordered mine last year on October 20, and had it in my hands on February 13th.

Good things, no make that Great things come to those who wait. I know you're chomping at the bit, but hang in there and you'll forget all about it when you open the case for the first time.

Is there any way I can have them do a fret level and a neck seal before it leaves to the dealer? No point in sending it back when I can have it done before! How much longer would that take if any?

Any dealer who gives you a specific arrival date on your EBMM is just giving you his best guess to try and keep you happy. The answer to the question of "when will my axe arrive?' is............

WHEN IT'S DONE! no sooner, no later.

I have said this MANY times before. We (EB/MM) would never give an exact date as to when an instrument will be completed. It does take about 3 months. Sometimes it takes less. Sometimes more. We are a small company, and do our best to hurry things along, but at any given time, when someone orders a guitar, there are 300 or so people who ordered before you. We do not build until we get an order, so it takes time. Be patient. You will agree that its worth the wait.

Actually, I've always wanted to know more about EB the company. How many people work there? Do you guys ever do open houses or factory tours?

There was a Factory Tour posted from a magazine (i remember a recent issue of guitar player that had dudley and the flame top morse in it) a while back...looked pretty cool....I think someone else posted one too (keith?)....

For what its worth I waiver on grabbing guitars built by other manufacturers because these guys put soul and magic into thier instruments and to me it;s definitely worth the price tag....and theyre accessible as you can see.

i like the fact that music man is a small company that takes there time.it doesnt feel like mass produced crap. each model has its own personality. hell each guitar has its own personality for that matter. how many other companys out there have a different profile neck on each model. most companys let you choose between 22 and 24 frets and thats about all the choice you get when it comes to the necks. when you pick up a music man guitar you can tell it was made by people who care. you can really feel the quality.

This is right! There is something magical in MM guitars - that is for sure. I love my EBMMJP more every day I have it. And I'm waiting now until my Axis SS arrives :) Why I love MM guitars?? (there is no gradation here):
- amazing tone,
- great wood,
- best hardware,
- the simplicity of the construction (which is amazing - the best solutions are the simplest solutions!),
- the simplicity of use (i.e. truss rod accessibility, locking tuners),
- ergonomics, comfort of playing (necks!!!!),
- great (sexy :D ) design (especially silhouette nad JP, Axis too),
- amazing finishes (sparkles!!!).

Actually, someone posted it on the bass forum, I just saw it over there and told everyone here to run over there.
Not even sure if it's still there, try a search.

There was a report of something floating in the ocean somewhere near Finland about the approximate size of a MUSICMAN guitar case.

Just saw the factory tour pdf and the article in GP.

I'm actually wondering if EB would ever do an open house - where us guitar nerds could see firsthand where the magic happens :p

We used to have an open house once a year, but that along with a lot of other nice things have gone the way of the buffalo. :(
