I am going to build a pedal board, but I am trying figure out ideas. My pedal chain is pretty simple....

Blues over drive->TS9 tube driver->wah->phase 90->EB volume pedal(split to to tuner and)->Acoustic simulator->digital delay->amp. I use Dunlap power brick to power the pedals.

For those who have built your own what materials did you use. It does not have to be overly fancy but something. I have some Tolex that I can use.

Thanks...

i did a quite simple pedalboard. just got a plywood with 40x60cm some velcro 10x50cm and a L-profile alu bar, and 8 rubber feet.

and this is how it looks like after i finished it:

and this is after i updated the pedals with a black label chorus and a selfmade TS clone:

I dunno about building one - I just bought a PedalTrain with the hard case. I think they are very flexible, not too pricey and the hard case is almost indestructible.

i really like that wooden orange ikea pedal board. that's awesome. But if a bit more cash isn't a problem, just go with a pedal train board.

So simple and convenient. indestructible.

Those are some great board. Well I don't play live anymore but this is more to clean up the floor and some personal satisfaction and hopefully some inspiration.

I build my boards and have a few boards out with friends who are touring and theyre pretty sturdy.

They're actually pretty simple- if you want it angled or flat. If you want it flat you're talking maybe an hours worth of work... Just get some ply from your local hard wood store and wrap the edges w aluminum
And Velcro the top... If you go to Walmart they should have automotive headliners in a big roll and Velcro sticks to that really well and just glue it on. Or traditional stickyback Velcro.

The angled boards are a bit more detailed- but cut two pieces at the same angle and the cut your back and fronts glue and secure with screws or nails and then wrap in tolex.

+1 on the Pedaltrain. Musicians Friend has a 10% accessory coupon right now on the back of their current catalogue. Just get a PT1. I picked up a PT2 a few months ago.....luv it. I built a board a few weeks before that and ended up just wanting the clean look and flexibility of the Pedaltrain. I built my board for $15, and bought the PT for $100. It was money well spent IMO.

If you do end up building a board, I would suggest making sure that you have horizontal gaps that go the entire width of the board. That design will help you when you need to move pedals around (ie: add or remove pedals). I'd also make it raised or slanted so that you could put your DC Brick on the underside.

Good luck.

I might build a pedal board one of these days but in Paris I'm usually on public transport to my gigs, so keeping the carrying size and weight down is important (and why I never bothered with a pedal board before now). I'm thinking wood but with holes drilled strategically, just the bear minimum amount of material needed to support the 5 or 6 pedals I normally use. I wonder if I can make it foldable? Sounds crazy? Maybe but never say never, right?

I attached a shoulder strap to my "Dewalt Case".
When I step out of the car I have the AER on one shoulder, the pedal board on the other and a guitar case in each hand - works great.

Soft cases help a lot with weight. Not as much protection as a hard case, of course, but depending on your needs it's a great alternative. I've owned three pedalboard with soft cases and love 'em all.

Here is the pedal board for now. took about three hours. First time I have built one and tolexed something. LOL I will prob. do the wiring tomorrow but I need to get a couple rubber gromets. I am going to use those and drill some holes in the riser to run the power cords from the dunlap brick that I cut a section out the bottom. The open area on the riser next to the carbon copy will be where a tuner will go...

Not professional but for now it works for me...I am already of thinking about some improvements. ...

Any how Let me know what you think.. Thanks for all of the suggestions and such from everyone...
