Well last weekend, we had a musicman bass meeting (I'll post more info in another thread).
And someone pointed something out concerning my black 'ray.

I've been playing stingrays for more than 6 years now. They've always been my favorite bass since I started playing. And since I've owned them, I've sold every other bass I owned.
Old gibson grabbers, rippes, fender P's, Rickenbacker.. they all made room for these two ladies.

These two are my two babies but I must admit that since last weekend I'm pretty bummed...

The strings on the Black 'ray seem to be "out of line". They don't line up as they should.
Normally they're centered in the middle of the fretboard. But in real life it's very clear that the G string almost falls of the fretboard, where the E string has room to spare...
Very weird... but it even s*cks when I play. The G strings slips off the fretboard sometimes.

At the meeting the official importer of MUSICMAN (Voerman) was there as well. And together with some other people we asked what the problem could be.
He said the problem could be that the neck wasn't screwed in as it should be. After some attempts he screwed it back in. And it was a lil' better...

But still it wasn't perfect...

After a long talk it was pointed out that the neck could have "worked" itself in such a position that the strings don't allign as it should be. At the 7th fret there was a slight shift to the right. Almost impossible to take pictures of... but very noticable with the naked eye. He was describing quarter sawn necks and dos sawn necks and their difference. It made sence that the non quarter necks "work" more than the others.. But that much? That shouldn't happen with an expensive bass like that... should it?

I'm kind of bummed, and I don't really know what to do anymore... The problem was "not so serious" in the eys of the importer. But I want my bass to be perfect.

What should or can I do?

Bring it to a luthier? A guitar tech?

I don't know anymore...

Looks like the nut shifted or something like that. Just move the nut over. I'm very surprised that the people you talked to didn't spot that off the bat. I would take some closeups of the nut and the end of the fretboard, an contact EBMM customer service.

Nuts do shift from time to time....I've had to glue a few nuts back into place on various basses - no big deal if that's what it is. I thought one of the reasons for the 6 bolt neck plate was to have less neck shiftage - that shouldn't be the issue at all.

Nut.

But this is an issue for CS, not Dick Tracy on the internet kind of guesswork.

But my guess is still it's the nut.
