I bet you'll see it up on E(vil)Bay again in a week or two... Nobody's stupid enough to pay $850 for a $120 guitar with a weak EVH-copy paint...

Wrong, Jimi...check that auction again.

Idiot...pure f*cking idiot. He even kept his user ID private, so we can't bombard him with "what the hell were you thinking" emails. Damn...LOL!

An OLP with that kind of paint job wouldn't be worth anymore than $300-350 (guitar and materials for repaint, etc.) Let this be a lesson for those of you that DON'T know what that part of life is all about. Do NOT overpay for an OLP striped up EVH style just because of recent events. Also, don't overpay for a copy of an EVH guitar made by some company called Charvel...wait, they're legit. Pricey, but legit. Scratch that last remark. ;)

Pardon the crassness, but I hope the winner of that auction is at least getting some lube...

I'd be watching Ed Roman's auctions for that one. It will have an EBMM logo at that point.

That and several other "improvements" that only ER can make. He'll turn it from a P.O.C. to a real player...
 ;)

I almost went "hey, it's coming from Canada, maybe the guy got his exchange rates mixed up", then saw the auction was indeed USD. Whoever bought this was completely clueless, not to mention the seller....I mean c'mon, get a load at that lame stringing job!

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the 'private id' bidder wasn't the seller himself or a friend. Shill bidding runs rampant on Ebay, and the next idiot that looks at one of these will say 'damn, someone bought it, it must be worth it'????!!!! I mean, the seller has only been a member since March of this year and has over 200 Feedbacks!!! Most of which are kept private. Something funky goin' on there me thinks.

I don't have to check it again, Darrell - I'm not "wrong"; my statement was that no one would PAY that much for the guitar, not that no one would BID that much for the guitar... Here's the simple truth of the matter: best estimates are that nearly a THIRD of all ebay auctions that end with a bid over $500 and meet the reserve DO NOT result in a sale... Also, the SELLER is the one who made it a private auction so we can't see who bid - the $850 is far more likely a shill bid gone wrong than someone actually dumb enough to shell out that kind of bread on a piece of junk. Even if someone hit "Buy it Now" too quick and didn't realize they were buying a piece of crap until after the fact, they'll wake up with a hangover and realize what they did and reneg on the bid and take the negative feedback. You'd have to be brain dead to pay that kind of money for that guitar, and people that stupid DO NOT have that kind of money to throw around - if they did, I'd get much better prices for my stuff on Ebay...

I too thought this was the work of Ed Roman.

If you go to his website you'll see that he's selling these OLP guitars with "mods".
Basically, you get a piece of fire wood with a floyd rose trem and decent pickups for $650.

Makes me wonder how these people sleep at night. :(

What gets me is this guy claims this to be a "professional" paint job costing well over $350, unlike those "homemade" paintjobs often seen on ebay. Yet he goes into ALOT of detail explaining just how it was painted ("wet sanded in between coats") and even reveals the location ("automotive spray booth") of where it was done.

Sounds pretty "homemade" to me. :D

Shill bidding is an idiotic thing to do, cause if you win your own auction, you still have to pay all the fees. MORON! Kick him in the nuts for that.

So the goof can paint...doesn't make him Picaso.....Hey wait a minute...my OLP is broke in half at the neck....I will set it on fire and entice the flames to rise up then post it on e-bay and say I burned it up like Jimi Hendrix did at one of his shows....should fetch me enough to retire...what about that fellas?!?!?! Anyone interested in a Burned Up Like Jimi Hendrix OLP? ;)

And he still has the stones to waste space in the description about that $150-$200 guitar's faux maple film top and binding...which of course has since been covered by that oh-so-hot $350 custom paint.

Yeah, this guy's a marketing genius....(and something's seeeriously rotten in Denmark).......

Koogie..Before my computer crashed, I had a pic of me on the very spot where Hendrix burned his Strat in '67. I was the guitar tech for the Karen Tyler Band at the Monterey Blues Festival, and she played on the same stage, so before the show we were all over the stage...The burn marks are still there. Someone carved Jimi Hendrix 1967 just below the burn mark...Sacred ground for me!

Man, that is really cool...I bet that is sacred ground. I would love to see that myself. My mom saw him in concert over seas once and holds that memory very dear to her heart. Of course, I hope I did not anger you with the OLP thing....just being sarcastic....I am sure you know that ;)

We really dont have anything to do with OLP other than the license thing. We don't repair them either :D So i won't be pissed at anything anyone says about them. I will say that for the $ and with some fret work, they can be made to play pretty nicely.
