Hi I was wondering if any of you have ran across this problem. First I was hoping someone knows when this bass was made. It is a 4 String StingRay serial #36346. My problem, I have noticed a buzz from the guitar when I am not touching the strings. I figured it was a grounding issue so I had all the sodering points resodered. That did not alieviate the problem. That darn buzz is still there. Do you think it could be the pickup????? When I touch one of the poles, the buzz gets louder, all of the other metal parts, buzz goes away. Thanks in advance for your help.

Try a new lead.

It may be the input jack on the bass not making propper connection with the plug on the lead. My advice is take it to a technician. CAUTION: If you play around with the inside of the bass and it's connected to your power amp, which could be causing the fault, then you're exposing yourself to lethal voltages....musicians have been electricuted in the past at the guitar end of the chain.

Cheers.

Thanks for your reply regarding the dimmer switch but that is not the case, because I don't have one in the house. It seems like it doesn't matter were I plug into it is still there. Same goes for plugging into different amps, still there. I will look into the input jack. This jack is pretty unique, I never seen one with so many connections. (I've seen input jacks with 2 to 3 poles for electronic connections never 4, the old one looks good as far as the metal parts, I can't see what it looks like inside the plactic)
