I have an AX40 that I bought brand new at guitar center recently that plays great. I also have a slightly older AX40 that I bought used.

I just changed the strings on the used AX40 and I noticed some serious buzzing on the open D string (no buzzing on that string when holding on the string on any of the frets) and on the G and B strings at the 9th fret. I tried to adjust the bridge but that did not change the buzzing so I returned it to the original setting.

I have not adjusted the truss rod (a little scared to do that). Has anyone had similar issues? I used 10 gauge strings, not sure what gauge was on before I changed them.

Welcome to the forum. Don't be afraid to adjust the truss rod. A quarter turn per day is all I would do.

Sounds like you may want to raise your strings a little. Stand up wearing your guitar. Put an allen wrench into the truss rod wheel. Turn 1/4 turn up toward the ceiling.

If you ever need to lower the action, you go down to the floor 1/4 turn.

Good luck, buddy...

open D string buzz: check nut and bridge saddle locations for interruption (it doesn't appear to be "neck" related)
G&B strings at 9th fret: possibly slight truss rod "relief"
