Sup guys...I need some advice. Currently I am at a standstill. I want to proceed and polish up a bunch of tunes I have recorded on my 8 track, but I want to really add some expressive drumming, and I don't know if I can get into programming on the Zoom (plus the pads are really small so actually playing would suck). Now I am thinking about buying an intro V-Drum kit, but I have an oppurtunity to purchase Guitar Tracks Pro (2001 version) Now I had GTP and Fruity Loops on my PC before (free version) and I remember fooling around with the drum kits and I was able to create some unique beats...I guess what I need to know is, will it be easier to create songs using Guitar Tracks Pro, with drum tracks that are a little more intricate than say finding a beat on a drum machine, then just jamming along. Thanks!

V-Drums (The Rolands) are nice, but if you are a drummer they don't feel like real acoustic drums. The drum sounds you can get are very good though. As far as programming, I've always found that I would sit down and start to write out the track and it would start taking so long that I would get frustrated. That could just be me though. If you can play drums you can do a lot with the V-Drums. If you can't you'll find yourself frustrated with that too. Also, if you're going to start recording V-Drums for your projects you'll find you need more than 8 tracks.

Thanks, I forgot all about this post...I'll probably pass on the V-Drums and stick with my *track. Pick a beat and just stick with that...hopefully I'll find a homeless drummer and take him in

I thought all drummers were homeless. And that's coming from someone who used to be a drummer.

Yes, but the best part is that they don't even know they're homeless unless you tell them. And even then, they'll soon forget.

Raz, I have a Boss DR-770 Drum machine, and it is an awesome tool. You can play the patterns, program them, or do a little of both. What's cool is that when you record a pattern, it just keeps looping. So, you can just play the bass drum hits on one pass, then the snare hits on another pass, then the cymbals, etc. etc. No skill required.

That reminds me of a conversation overheard at a bar (doesn't everything...)

Three guys are sitting at the bar when the barkeep asks what they will have...

Guy 1: Bring us a round of beers on me. I'm a doctor and I made 125K this year.

Guy 2: That's nice! Bring us a round of burbon to go with it. I'm a lawyer and I made 180K this year.

Guy 3: Wow, I'm impressed guys! I only made 6K this year....

Guy 2: Really? What kind of sticks do you use?

I have a version of guitar tracks pro that came with my gnx4. It's not hard to do a drum track. You can make it as basic or complex as you like. Naturally the more complex....you know how that goes.
