Question Calling all piezo owners...RW or MPL

Ok guys I know we have talked a lot around here about Rosewood and maple but we never talk about it in refference to the piezo. So, is any one hearing any differnce with their piezo with a rosewood fretboard and or a maple fretboard or due to the piezo being built into the saddles does it not matter?

I only have RWs with piezo now. But I HAD a Silhouette maple with Piezo once. I remember it was very spanky... nice!

This was an issue for me when ordering my first piezo guitar. One quick call to Dan the Man at customer service he put all my issues (which I think are the same as yours) to rest when he said, "You're gonna like it."
He was so right!

I went with Maple BTW and have never regretted it or even given it a second thought.

I've had both and really didn't notice anything different. I've had 4 different piezo/maple combos and currently have a piezo/rosewood. Nothing noticable.

I've got Piezo/maple.

I don't know whether it's a misconception, that is Maple = sparkly/bright
Rosewood = warm/dark.

CandidX did an A/B Maple/Rosewood test with some pro singer who was reported to have incredible hearing who said that there was no great discernible difference.

Eric Johnson on the other hand can tell the difference between one that has plastic tone/volume controls made in China and one that has plastic tone/volume controls made in the USA!!

Just remember one thing - you gotta get the piezo!!!

there's a HUGE difference between rosewood and maple, i would guess piezo rosewood is more round and defined while maple is bright and cutting through, piercing almost.

I've got an Axis Super Sport with a maple fretboard and my 20th silo has a rosewood fretboard.

I think both of them sound great with the piezo.

I'm not too sure if there is such a big difference.

It's like the analogy that if a fat person wears clothes that have a vertical stripe they look thinner than if clothes are worn with a horizontal stripe.
The Sunday Times proved this to be a myth when they did an A/B comparison - infact they published photos showing that horizontal stripes make you look thinner. - myth dispelled!

I know that this has nothing to do with Rosewood/Maple but the analogy rings true when people "assume" there to be a difference.

I don't bleeb that a rosewood neck has a substantial difference on a guitars sound.

The same argument can be said about neck shimming, People swear that it affects a guitars sound but BP (and others) have said that it makes no difference.

While on the electric pup side of things here is a slight difference, very slight to my ears, but with piezo I cannot tell any difference, all i can say is make sure you get a piezo no matter what your fretboard choice is you will be happy either way

You know that video was intersting. I actually enjoyed it it really has me less sure of which way I want to go. It also made me think that I bet that for the piezo side the won't make a difference. Since the piezo pickup is in the bridge saddles I think it cancels out the fret boad since it only registers the vibration of the string.

You're right. It is a misconception. I also have not noticed that Maple is decidedly brighter or that Rosewood is any darker. However, I have noticed that Maple does tend to focus the tone more than rosewood. I've had rosewood boards that have had so much highs, that they were somewhat brighter than the maple I had. But the tone was rather loose and airy, which was nice, and what I liked. The 20th I got from Norrin is like that. It was in no way dark. Just different.
