Fing, you have owned multiple Ass' including the BFR as well as the 25th with both RW and Maple Fret Boards. So can we have a report of your findings please. How is the Ass compare to the BFR and how does the BFR compare to the 25th since they are slightly more alike than a reg Ass. Lastly. How does the 25th compare with the two dff fret board woods.

Any one else ho has first hand knowledge feel free to chime in but please no one start with the "genrally speaking maple is brighter stuff" on share what you have experienced with the Ass, BFR Ass and 25th.

Otto,

I have not been around as much lately, many life circunstances and such.

So first, the 25th is not an Axis, Axis Super Sport etc. it is a unique guitar that is the best thing I have ever played. Honestly the typical maple is brighter, rosewood a touch darker applies to the 25th as well as the Axis series, sorry but its true. I like both, really becoming a fan of maple not sure why just like the tones i am hearing.

The Axis series I like due to the body size and comfort of the neck, again fretboard is as described above, like both, the BFR adds the tone block which to me adds sustain and warmth to the tone, all in all I prefer the BFR ASS.

But hands down the 25th rules:)

Otto, thanks for asking the question(s). As a Super Sport fan, I am always interested to hear what other people are thinking/doing/playing/etc. You have put together some of the questions I've been mulling for the past year or so .....

Fing, thank you for answering the questions. Again - I am always interested in getting some different ideas/info/etc/.

Looks like I am hangin' tight with the two Super Sports I got .... but that don't mean I ain't lookin' at any others ... yet:)

All that said - I really do need either a few more sound-clips to hear and/or a buncha BFRs and 25ths in shops with certain ampZ for play/test.

cheers always, eh

I know you have a lot going on man so I knew you would get to me when you could. I am a maple person, I have bene one since 2000. With that said I have never played a maple fret board ball. I got my RW ASS because I had a feeling it was going to be discontinued and teh idea of an all RW neck was intersting. I love the guitar but having the RW Neck and Top makes it a different beast than a regular ASS. You assesment makes me really want a 25th. The BFR seems a bit close to home and the 25th just has so much going on. I think I am going with maple...unless I can get my hands on a RW neck 25th then all bets are off. There is something all about those all RW necks that make me live with out maple. I think I am becoming an either solid maple neck guy or solid Rw neck guy

I have to agree with Fing on the 25th comments. Since all of mine are RW boards I can only comment on them. The 25th with the RW board sounds superb and it quickly became my preference. Not that the others are not great sounding and playable guitars but the 25th is unique.

I just finished playing the 25th for about an hour, unplugged. It sounds so good that way, even when playing to a backing track, that it is becoming a real habit to just pick it up and play it that way. Sounds sweet all amp'd up too.

Get one if and when you can!
