from what I understand Luke has sold this amp...

maybe he will chime in here..:)

I read somewhere that he didn't really get on well with it and sold it to someone in Japan for a LOT of money..

still a very cool story.

I read that also. He said the myth that surrounds these amps was mostly nonsense, and he felt bad selling it for so much money as it was worth nowhere near that in his opinion, but hey there's one born every minute...

Cool. Would be interesting to hear about.

Is that floor switch made of plywood? And is that OE of Dumble?

Dumble's sell for what they do because that's what the market supports, just like Trainwrecks. I personally love the tone of both.

You might well love them, but can you afford one??
They are probably decent amps, but worth a million $ ?? Luke thinks not, and I for one would be inclined to agree. A bit of perspective reveals that all in all, its a tube amp. I'd doubt it would make anyone a better player....

Whether or not I can afford one is irrelevant...I alone am not the market. A Bugatti Veryron will cost you close to $2 million even with the bit of perspective that, it's a car. Economics.

It is economics, I agree. Also, although Luke may have thought the Japanese guy wanting to buy the amp was a bit crazy, well no doubt he is a private collector, and he might sell that amp in a year or so for double the $ and make a huge profit. Good for him. Bet he never gigs with it though.

As far as I remember, it was a radio interview Luke did when he recounted the story of the Dumble. I just thought his point of view regarding all the hype etc. that surrounds these much lauded amps was a realistic one.

I don't think it is all hype regarding a Dumble. They have a very definitive sound, but one that has created a legion of fans and clones as well.

Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Eric Johnson, SRV, Allen Hinds, John Mayer, et al all play, own, or have played/owned the amps.

I personally prefer the 6L6 tube structure as it is a clearer, more refined sound IMO than say an EL34 based amp provides. Also, I prefer the Power Amp Overdrive sound to Pre-Amp Gain sound as well. It's about what works for you as a player.
