Although I sort of like this idea for new instrument orders, it would be hell for the used market. And then, why not add finish options: Oil & wax, velvet, gloss.

Good point my friend...So thats why I bought a Sterling and am happy...:)

But still...is this such a crazy idea? Think of the car websites in which you can build your own car. Pick trim level, colour, interior, other options etc. For Music Man, you could have basic trim as one of the main MM bases (Stingray, Sterling, Bongo, Big Al). Then you pick your number of strings (4,5,6). Then you pick some neck width options, fretboard style, colour, etc. And voila! You have your perfect bass.
