Can someone help me out?

I tried to search but had a hard time sifting through the threads, but what makes the SUB basses different from their non-SUB counterparts? I see so far, the finish, but what else?

I havent gotten up close and personal with a SUB in a while but I think the main differences is the slab body, fully functional but not so pretty woods hence the paint, filling under frets and if I remember correctly the bridge and tuning pegs arent stamped with MusicMan logos.

...and even though some are passive, they are nearly indistinguishable from their active counterparts and still have passive bass/treble boost. the only real difference is a lack of extreme high end shimmer and a slightly lower output. this is all in my experience with my passive fretless SUB. YMMV.

I agree with the output on 2 band vs. 3 band eq's. The 3 band are a little hotter than the 2 band eq's. But that's not just on the SUB 2 band, that goes for them all as from what I've read they use the same pre as the big boys.
