Hey guys & gals,

I'm a complete n00b looking around cuz I've always wanted to learn bass. This one looked interesting so I googled the brand and, well, here I am. I was hoping someone might be able to verify the ID of this one and a rough ballpark value? (seller is saying stuff like, "dunno if it's a legitimate EBMM bass, but I bought it thinking it was")

G'day!

The bridge is the cheapest version of off the shelf copies and the headstock logos are in the wrong place so immediately it's obviously not a real EBMM. If it was a re-logo'd OLP or Sterling by Music Man, I would expect the correct pickguard shape and no metal control plate. Ask for photos of the back of the headstock and the neck plate to be sure but I'll wager it's a unlicensed knock-off. That being the case, it's probably worth less than the OLP or SBMM versions in similar condition. If they've out an after market pickup and preamp in it, it's worth not much more than the used price of those.

Thanks so much DrKev, what a wealth of knowledge! The only reason I know it's a bass is because it doesn't have 6 strings (OK I'm not QUITE that much of a n00b, but I definitely couldn't tell anything from anything. It was a bit of a dead giveaway when he said he wasn't sure but he bought it as if it was legitimate. Really dude? Either he got fleeced or he's trying to fleece someone else. When I saw the prices of EBMM basses I at least had the ask the question (did I even get the plural of bass right?)

Anyway, the listing has gone so either he got called out or duped some poor sucker. I'd be certain it is a knock off based on what you have said here. I think it was listed for $250-$300 AUD - sooooo $150-$200 USD at a really rough guess.

Edit: Sorry for your long covid man. I've been following Dianna Cowern's (Login • Instagram) journey, it's such a cruel an unknown disease. She was just able to stand unaided for the first time in 2yrs. I hope your journey is an easier one, and that you are able to make a full recovery soon.

I didn't really "know" her for long before she contracted it. Actually it might've been about the same time. A friend mentioned her and I started watching her shorts. I absolutely love her content. How engaging she is, and how she's bringing physics to the mainstream, especially for girls.

I was devastated when I found out, and I've refused to watch any of her old content until she is well enough to make new physics content (or whatever it is she wants to do with her life).

Go back and re-watch all her stuff and encourage others to do so too. Every view is income for her.

Yeah, totally fake.

Also totally pumped that Diana can finally stand again, after years of pretty much having to live in the closest thing there is to a sensory deprivation tank due to the MCAS and Long covid.
