I have an electric geeetaaar, its a 6 string fixed neck not a Gibson ok? its only a cheap Korean thing I keep for strumming around and to compose parts in songs.

I wonder if I can get it strung up with the same strings on a Baritone Silo for a bit of fun

Thanks

I think the longer scale is the key to the Silobass. You might be able to tune your guitar lower than normal with baritone strings, but not as low as a Silobass.

thanks mynan ;) besides I have just realized that my guitar has one of those trem bridges and the extra string tension will make that tremolo rise all the way up and the action would be a mile off the neck, so not ideal to fit baritone strings on a trem loaded guitar after all

Provided you don't try to tune it like a normal guitar, I don't think string tension will be greater? Anyway, blocking a trem unit is easy:)
You'll of course need to modify the nut, but imho it's worth it, playing an instrument like that is great fun regardless of where you end up tuning wise. I mean it really doesn't matter all that much if it's tuned to A or G, just choose the tuning that gives you a nice feel:)

Thanks, and very interesting, I'll have a chat with my local tech guy, what is the normal tuning of a baritone guitar? is it not EADGBE one octave lower? I have no idea. Thanks

That's how I'd tune it provided it was more or less 30" scale and normal baritone strings. But I think my guitar with baritone strings is tuned in Ab (or possibly G, can't remember) , because that gave me comfortable tension with the strings I got. And yes I have a tremolo on that one, a strat style standard trem, and it works too:)
