Canadians Cost For UPS Shipping!

I was asked to inform fellow Canadians of the cost of purchasing items from the USA and having them shipped via UPS. What it boils down to is taxes on the Canadian equivalent plus a brokerage fee. The taxes are equal to 15% and the brokerage fee for me was 76.00 Canadian. Now I don't know if that fee fluctuates based on the value of the item, but what I do know is...it adds up...dang!

Sorry about the bad luck....I thought we had some kind of "business" relation with you fellas up there.........guess the business is......you gotta pay more! Sucks!

You always find the right words.... :D

UPS sucks - they given me that brokerage fee in the past too - it's not a statutory fee - just UPS's way of effing you over. FEDEX does not charge this fee.

FedEx used to be more reasonable - but they've changed... The brokerage fee is just plain extortion - they make you fill out all the Customs forms when you ship; all they do to collect the fee is pass the paperwork done by the shipper to the Customs Agent. It's theft, pure and simple. Use the Postal Services and the "brokerage fee" is reduced to $5. The taxes are another issue - we're used to that as Canadians... just as we're used to free health care, subsidized higher education, and a distinct lack of demilitarized zones in our inner cities... :D

Too bad about FedEx - its been a while since I ordered anything from the states but now that the dollar is getting close to reasonable again --.

I remember ordering something from the U.S. that came to 110 Canadian and those moogerfoogers at UPS shafted me for $50.00 "brokerage fee".
