I am having a really tough time deciding between a Luke and the Petrucci 6-string.
Any input, feedback, and/or suggestions?
Thanks,

Have you had the change to try both?
What kind of music do you play? Give us some details.

I've tried the Pet. It's a sweet guitar. :)
I haven't had the opportunity to try a Luke or an Al just yet. :(

The necks are radically different - opposite ends of the spectrum, in fact - so I would suggest you play each and let your hands decide...

What are you playing at the moment?, are you looking for something different to your current guitar?.

As mentioned before the necks are quite different, the Luke would suit someone with smaller hands.

The Pet has a flat neck and is fairly thin where as the Luke is more of a "V" shape.

I have tried out the Luke and I happen to like the ones that kbaim brought to the Open House.....

Hate to say it, but you really should try and get your hands on both and give them a spin because as stated earlier, they are opposite ends of the spectrum.

Have not tried...

Well, I haven't had the opportunity to try either guitar. I currently have a Carvin DC127 and a Gibson Melody Maker. While the DC127 is smooth, the neck is a little too big for me as far as comfort goes. I'm looking for something comfortable to play that can be used for multiple styles of music i.e. hard rock, blues, jazz. The Gibson's neck, while not as smooth feeling as the Carvin, seems much easier to play because of the shape and radius. For acoustics, I play a Takamine 341EF-C, so the guitar doesn't necessarily have to have a piezo.
Thanks,

Wow, you are talking about two very different instruments here (and they feel really different, too).

You really need to try them both.

The Luke has:
EMG active pickups (H-S-S), 5-way switch
noticable "V" shaped neck
not much in the way of body contours as I recall, but very 'rounded' edges
vintage tremolo
alder body

The Petrucci has:
passive DiMarzio H-H pickup configuration, 3-way switch
pretty flat neck
severe body contours
one-of-a-kind tremolo
basswood body

Now, as a Petrucci owner I can tell you that I really prefer the body contours, flat neck, and tremolo on the Petrucci for comfort.

I've played Luke's and they feel very foreign to me, primarily due to the neck profile.

In all likelihood one of these guitars will feel worlds better to your hands than the other. That's why you need to try both before deciding.
