I did the whole neck treatment with tung oil and wax on my Silo today and I must admit it came out a treat but it got me wondering about a couple of things.

Should the maple fingerboards be treated with oil/wax or normal lemon oil?

Also wondered if the all-Rosewood necks are finished in the same way as the Maples ones, ie Tung oil and wax? If so, presumably they need to be treated in the same way. If not then is there any special maintenance/treatment that should be applied?

As always, any replies gratefully received:)

Lemon oil will not harm your maple neck as long as it's used sparingly and you don't flood it on so that it soaks into the fret tangs.

The EB wipes are great on rosewood.

Thanks Spud, so just to clarify, I should use Lemon oil on a maple fingerboard instead of tung oil, and the R/W neck just needs a wipe over with an EB wipe but not oiled and waxed?

Or am I just thinking about this too much?!

Wonder Wipes all up and down both. Done. That's the easy way.

If you play a ton, or want to be diligent you could do the oil/wax on the necks once a year, imo.
