Hi,
I need some spare case keys for my Music Man Bass case.
I bought a second hand EBMM Stingray with case, but without any keys included.
How could I get some keys ?

I have never used keys on any cases I have owned and I don't know anyone that has. We are afraid we would loose them and then have to break the latch to get the axe out. I have a collection of old keys that you are welcome to.

Maybe I'm the exception to the case ;) I used to also lock my CD cases when I was a DJ. Maybe I'm just paranoid ?
It's not really important but would like to have the option to lock the case under certain circumstances.
I've tried several old keys of other cases but no one fit. Don't know if all Music Man cases have the same lock ?
But you have a good point there.. Having to break the latch is not something we want.

cheers Ed

have you even opened it yet? :p how gutting would that be? If they're anything like the locks on any other cases, you can usually pick them pretty easy anyway.

All four of my Music Man cases are within a couple of years apart in age. I just checked and the keys from each case opens all of the others. So the lock and key are common to each one.

How old is the bass and case? You can contact EBMM customer service dept and tell them the serial number of your bass. They in return will tell you when it was made. If it's within the last couple of years i'll gladly give you a key.

IMO, the SKB case locks are useless. It's much too easy to force the locked latch open...then you're left with a broken latch.

The locks, though easily defeated, serve a purpose. They help the latch to prevent your bass from falling out.

Hi TD,
thanks for your suggestion / offer. My guess is that all case keys are the same within a range of production-years. Do the keys have some form of marking ? At my work I have a large pile of various computer-lock keys etc.
I might try if one of them fits.

The bass is from end-2006 (s/n E56924), it looks like it's almost brand-new, so it would be nice to have a key with the case, for the reason mentioned before.

Unfortunately, there are no markings on any of the keys that came with my basses. The key itself is short and stubby so look for one that fits that description . My offer still stands, you can have one of mine. If by chance it doesn't fit, then send it back. No problem. Just PM me if you'd like me to send you one.

Does it resemble one of these ? (found the pics on the SKB website, I guess they are for generic SKB case locks)

I can check at home, there should be a spare key in my 'little musical parts corner'. I can mail it to you, since I only live 100 km away from you, just let me know..

Hey Lonny,
that would be great, thanks for the offer!
Please let me know when you've found the spare key, then I'll send you my address in PM.
