I went to see Tommy play in a blues band (Garry and the Complainers) on Saturday night in a bar in Baltimore's Fell's Point. Flat out, the boy smokes. He had his Morse sounding great through his Guytron.
During one of his breaks he showed me a couple of his other guitars that he brought along as well. A really nice black sparkle Morse that had recently had a run in with a concrete floor, it was as shame to see that body all banged up but I guess it could have been worse, sorry Koog! He also had his pride and joy, Morse #23/50 signed by Steve. He also brought along a Luke. Oh yeah, he also had a Morse that had been modified with a PRS BRIDGE?!?!?!
He pulled that one out and I had to do a double take... That was weird looking. He had carved the neck on one of the Morse's so that it was very similar to a Luke's carve. And very nice flame necks on just about all of them. Nice collection.
Raz, I had one of your moments standing there watching Tommy wail. I'm due for some serious woodshedding time. It's a humbling experience to see someone just rip it up like that and realize that I'll probably never get to that level.
Tommy had it going, great tone, and incredible chops. There were times when he kicked into the lead channel that if I didn't know any better, it could have been Steve Morse playing.
Come to think of it I thought I saw Steve outside looking for the guy who was stealing his licks. He has definitely been paying attention while teching for Steve, he should probably be paying royalties...
Good job Tommy, sorry we couldn't hang out until closing time, we had been up since 4:30AM and my wife was having trouble with the smoke. We'll definitely have to catch up with you again sometime. My wife said it was nice to finally meet one of the people that I talk about from time to time. She apologized for having to leave early.
If anyone on the forum gets a chance go check him out.
