Hey all,

New member here, but I have been a visitor to the forum for quite some time. Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone here has ever refinished and changed the color of the quilt top of an AXIS/AX-3/AX-4/AX40 type of guitar? I can't seem to find the color I want and was wondering if this was a good option.

I believe the AX's are photo quilts, and the AX40 is veneer, so the AX's are a definite no, and the AX40 would be tricky.

Just find a guitar that plays well in a color you can live with...

To me, the color of a guitar isn't that big of a deal, as long as it's not that awful Fender antigua ;).

On the bass side, there is a guy who had Pat Wilkins re finish his quilted top anniversary Reflex bass from red to purple. It came out great so yes it can be done but I highly recommend getting a reputable painter such as Pat.
