Hi people,

I'm currently using regular slinky strings (10-46) on my JP6, and I ordered a bunch of super slinkys (which are 9-42) by mistake. Can I change to these strings without problems or is it best to wait until I get the regular slinkys?

I don't know if this thread belongs in the string or the guitar section, so please move it if needed.

I changed from 10s to 9s on my AL and didn't make any adjustments. It plays just fine for me.

BTW, what JP6?.... I didn't see any pics of said guitar. ;)

It's the original (I think) JP model; I bought it in 2005. The color is Blue Pearl. I didn't want to spend the extra $400 for the Mystic Dream finish back then, which I of course regret today, but I love this color too.

from 10's to 9's isn't THAT big of a deal really, but a lot of purists will still tell you to intonate the guitar anyways, or have someone who handles our guitar re-intonate it.

With the floating trem it will probably be a pain, you'll have to adjust the trem claw, then adjust it again when (if?) you swap back next string change. I'd just pop down to the store and buy some 10s (name a music store on earth that hasn't got a set of EB 10s in it) and throw the 9s on another (non floating trem) axe.

Should be no biggy - just make sure to set up Your tremolo flush with the body when the new set is on. If something is buzzing where it hadn't before, You should probably do a slight neck adjustment, too. The intonation should actually be fine, though, since the gap between the 9-42 an 10-46 is not that big. Provided, of course, it was OK before :)
