I took off the neck on my radiance red bongo HH today and found this on the back...

Obviously there's a pumpkin drawn there and someone's signature and then the bottom right corner it has the date 10/31/06

Just thought it was interesting and thought I would share :)

Are you the original owner of the bass?

My Bongos had something that looked like fingernail clippings in the neck joint. One fell out on my bass rig and now it's twice as loud and doesn't need eletric power. Weird ;)

Wasn't it one of the LE colors after Envy Green? I can never remember this stuff but I believe Envy Green was 2005 and Radiance Red followed that.

I joined the cult in 05, and in fact the first Bongo I ever laid hands on was a Rad Red one in Pete's shop. I'm almost positive that the 06 LE color was Buttercream.

07 was Blue Dawn

08 was gold hardware on black, I think.

Envy Green and Rad Red were in the 04-05 timeframe somewhere. At that time I don't think they were doing one LE color per year. But it was definitely not in 06.

I think this:
2004: Rad red was first, then Envy Green
2005: Buttercreme
2006: Black/Gold
2007: Blue Dawn
2008: Stankyburst

Wasn't it?

Oh, and Rad Red was introduced as a normal color after the LE run, though of course with a matching headstock instead of the then standard black LE headstock.

I think you're right about the LE sequence.

I didn't recall that Rad Red was part of the regular color selection… thought it was LE only. That would explain it.

And indeed, I found this page at the Internet Archive, from mid-2006. It was available as a $100 option:

I bought the bass new from theperfectbass.com so yeah I'm the original owner.
I still haven't taken off the plastic covers on the back of the bass and I've had it for almost a year. I can't believe this thing has sat somewhere for 3 years!
and bovinehost I'll try and get a better picture of the signature for you.

also it would be cool to know if that was done at the factory or if somebody else has put their mark on it :)

MrM
It had to have been done at the factory because the birth date for my serial # is Nov 1 06
