Hello, All

First post here on the EB forums.

I've been playing bass for a little over a year now (but I've played music for most of my life).

I'm really struggling on choosing between:
1. Stingray 4HH
2. Bongo 4HH

Both are incredible instruments.

Ideally, I'd get both, but that's not a reality right now.

I play rock, hard rock, metal, a bit of punk, and even some blues.
I'm playing on a Sterling 4H right now, and I love it, but I want one of the two mentioned above with a rosewood fingerboard (my sterling has a maple FB).

I have a few other general EBMM questions, but I'll post those separately.
Thanks for welcoming me into the fold.

Welcome aboard DSB :)

I personally would get the Bongo 4HH. The Bongos are amazing basses and the neck (to me) feels really comfortable to play. It has a Godzilla presence in the mix

I played with some folks recently and the Bongo was rock solid in tone and comfort. Plus it is a much lighter bass. Hurt my back a few weeks ago and Bongo did not strain my back.

Anyway, that was my $0.02:D

Once again, welcome to the forum.

I've just ordered a stingray, mainly because it has been THE bass I have wanted to own since I started playing. I really don't think you can go wrong with either, but after reading on here and around the internet/listening to clips etc and trying to come from a completely unbiased point of view I don't think there are many better basses in the world for the money than a bongo at the moment. I can see myself owning one of each in the future :D

So I have two answers. Bongo 4HH would probably be my first recommendation...

The second answer is a Stingray 4HH with SLO neck if you absolutely have to have the skinny Sterling neck. The Bongo neck personally feels better to me though.

Welcome BTW, you'll have an amazing instrument either way, besides it's just which one you'll buy FIRST :).

Theres no correct answer to this question, both are killer basses its just down to personal taste/choice.
Flick a coin for it, its a win win situation :)
Welcome by the way .

You can't go wrong with the Bongo. Its perfect for hard rock/metal! It's got more bite (or less if you use your neck humbucker).

For the record, I bought my Bongo based on the fact that I play hard rock/metal the most, but also love melodic clean sounding bass.

Well, the stars must be aligned.

The local GC had a used Bongo come in 2 days ago.
Metallic Gray with a pretty cool PG.

I played it about 15 minutes, along with a few Stingrays.

The Bongo came home with me.
AMAZING instrument.

Thanks for the insight, recommendations, and welcomes!

Great choice by going with the Bongo. Not that I am dissing the Stingray, its also a great bass. But the Bongo will sound a lot more different than the Sterling compared to the Stingray. So you have a wider range of "sounds" by having a Sterling and a Bongo.

Here she is!

Love this instrument.
Played for hours straight over the weekend; couldn't wait to come home from work today to play more.
