I have decided to go with a Bare Knuckle Rebel Yell bridge pickup for my JP6 BFR. It seems the dimensions of the pup itself almost nearly lines up with the dimarzio crunchlab i'll be replacing. the only marginal difference is the distance from the screw hole(s) (tabs) dimarzio=3.32 (inches); BKP=3.33 (inches) the BKP are just a hair narrower and slightly less in height.

So, the question is: do i get chrome covered? my JP does have the chrome tremolo which might look cool. but do i want to detract the overall 'classiness' of the guitar? I could use a second opinion. (girls bring their friends before buying a pair of shoes right?) this is in the male context...lol

first here's the guitar it would be going into:

or,

here's the uncovered black pup:

wish i had a mock up of what this would look like...so which do you think would look better?

Is it possible to get the covered pups in black chrome. That would look killer.

Are you getting the pickups up here or are ya getting them from the States. Didn't think Bareknuckle had any dealers in the Great White North.

It would look fantastic with both pickups covered, but just the bridge wouldn't look right. If you were doing both I would be all for it. On some guitars the covered neck and open coil bridge looks great, but not the other way around. BKP does do matte black covers as well, but I would still go open coil. Here is a pic of a matte black Holy Diver I had in one of my Caparisons.

I had this battleworn Painkiller too.

wow that prototype pic is awesome. I wish my JP had the scoop, chrome is slick...but i agree about the pickup rings not looking very good there. yeah i think that perhaps it is best to match the pickups...it might appear 'unbalanced' aesthetically to only have one covered. i'll think on it. I suppose if i were ordering the rebel yell set, i could get the chrome covered on both...no pickup rings would be needed to my knowledge. they should sit right in the cavity without modding. I am just getting the bridge for now as that is what i'm having issues with at the moment, and no reason to replace the liquifire. also, buying a whole set gets pricey!

there is no dealers up here in Canada that I'm aware of. I would be ordering them direct.

Hit up my buddy Nick at -- THE AXE PALACE / 508-921-9973 --. He is a BKP dealer. He will have no problem shipping to you in Canada. Also be sure to order the BKP w/ triangular tabs to fit in the route without having to grind down the tabs. He may even have one in stock.

That is gorgeous. I wish they would have left the scoop on the BFR's. I just don't like those pickup rings. Was that a mockup or a real proto? The neck pickup is upside down

Real proto. IIRC it's spurred from the 20th Anny. It's still
Basswood with a maple cap but it had a mahog tone block. Unfinished maple neck too with PAFs and an arm scoop. Perfect guitar IMO :D

Here's a link to check out the Canadian dealers.

Bare Knuckle Pickups, UK - Hand Wound Guitar and Bass Pickups

Check out Budd Royce Enterprises. I think he's in the Toronto area.

BRL Guitarworks ~ Canada's Official Caparison Guitars Distributor

hey thanks for the reference...I sent them an email

I am considering getting the set now...what you guys think? should i hold on to the liquifire and get the set as they might be more 'balanced' together? [i think they call it a calibrated set] if i got the set I would go with chrome covered and it would look similar to that prototype BFR!

That would look sick!

And definitely get the matching set, a covered bridge with an uncovered neck would look weird IMO

I'm glad you chose the Rebel Yell. please give a review once you got it in. I personally would go no pup cover.
