Does anyone know where to puechase the chrome pup covers that EBMM uses on the DiMarzio Humbuckers in an Axis/Axis Super Sport.

I see them listed on DiMarzios website but did not see a way to buy them directly from their website. I have looked at a few music store websites and have not found them listed.

Thanks for any info:)

No idea off-hand, but I'd probably start by shooting Dimarzio an email. They should be able to steer you the right way. But be something they can sell you directly.

I love those pickup covers. Is there any compensation needed after installation, such as having to raise the pickups (spacer?) or are they ok as is?

Note that a covered Dimarzio 36th PAF would not fit in the neck slot of my rosewood Axis SS. The routing is too tight to allow for the larger base diameter of the cover.

Also, the cover adds about 1/8" or so on top of the surface of the pup, raise the poles of your existing pup and see if that's too close to the strings.

Finally, putting a cover on a pup is something of an art. The fit has to be real tight to avoid squealing at high volumes or high gain applications. Generally, this involves some wax, a vise, and a hairdryer. (Yes, I've done this a few times. :) )

If you're not comfortable doing this, you may want try out a covered set from Dimarzio to see if it fits, like a Norton/AT-1 set or something similar, or wait for a set of Reflex pups to come up for sale.

Hope this helps...

I bought them on ebay. There are some nice how to on Youtube. The egde of the cover is curled so it won't fit narrow routings. The stock cover pickups don't have a curled edge.
