I'm strongly considering a Stingray Classic 5, and have some questions about the neck profile and fingerboard radius. None of my local dealers have any Classic 5's in stock, so I can't get a hands-on experience to check one out.

First, how is the neck profile compared to a Stingray 5? Chunkier? Flatter?

Second, and possibly more importantly, how does the 7.5" radius feel as compared to the 11" radius on the other 5-string models? I've played many 4-strings with a 7.5" radius and I don't find it to be an issue. I am just wondering how the smaller radius feels on a wider 5-string neck.

Thanks, y'all.

I played one a couple weeks ago and didn't even notice it had a different radius until i went home and looked up the specs. very, very nice bass. if your looking for a classic sounding stingray without the missing string, the classic 5 is the way to go. i wouldn't worry about the different neck radius.

I own two Classics (4 and 5) and neither of them feel different enough from their regular counterparts to be noticeable.

They are both BEAUTIFUL though. Highly recommend a Classic.

I noticed the radius difference right away. Lucky, I guess?

I've lived with my '92 SR5 since... well, '92, so any difference would be pretty obvious. While I think it's certainly a noticeable difference I don't think it will cause you any trouble.

I like the feel of the radius on the classic better!
