Classic love

so this weekend i had 3 gigs: friday, a hard rockin blues trio; saturday, a swinging jump blues band; and sunday, jazz standards at a private party (the ol' background music gig). i brought 2 basses to all 3 gigs and didn't take the 2nd bass out of the case. i used my classic for all of the gigs and it had no problem, none at all. am i surprised? no, not at all (these 3 gigs were gig #95-97 on this bass which i bought in late june of last year), but damn, really, a single bass! thanks BP! i know a Big Al, SR5 or a sterling could have done the gigs too, but the classic is what i have and it smokes. dig.

I don't get anything out except the Sterling's anymore. It just gets tough to choose which Sterling to take sometimes

I hear you on the Classic man. Mine has been gigged exclusively since I got it. Fills the sonic space very nicely. The pre is very versatile too despite only having the 2 knobs. That neck feels incredible. Love me the Big Al, but the Classic is really my faveorite right now.

I have exactly the same situation - rehearsed with one band and played a gig with another during yesterday - just took the Classic - it covers all genres, and the neck is great.

The band I played with last night covered songs like Back in Black and Jump - the Classic produced the ideal sound - great fun as well

we are such suckers, eh!?! wasn't there talk at one point of us knucklheads drinking some kool-aid! we're an interesting breed, besides being bass players (which is odd enough).

it's great and confidence inspiring to show up to a gig, EBMM in tow, know that my sound is covered, know that the band will like my tone, know that the sound guy will like my tone, and know that i will feel comfortable the whole time (yeah, the neck on mine feels damn good too).

the only thing i worry about these days heading to a gig is how much traffic i will hit on the way!

I have to worry about which Color to get...Tried the Classic 5 natural today...It was lighter than my Bongo 4 HS!

I will one day own a bass they call "the Classic" preferably a Sterling in Lake Tahoe Blue with a rosewood fretboard.
