I'm new and this is actually my first post.

I just pulled the trigger on a Classic Sabre (Trans. White/Tort/Flamed Maple) from Sweetwater. It will be my first MM in about 12 years. I used to have a Sterling Fretted and a Fretless, but as my tastes gravitated more towards P-Bass, they didn't work for me any more. Lately I've wanted to have something that still nails the Precision vibe fairly well, but has the added versatility of a bridge pickup and can get a little more aggressive than I've managed to get my P-basses to be.

So I stumbled upon Bass Player's review on YouTube of the Sabre and I was really intrigued. It sounds like it might be what I'm jonesing for. A bass that can be warm and mellow if you want it to be, but can also be aggressive if you ask it. Something that can nail the P vibe fairly well, but can also be versatile. Does that sound like an accurate description? What sold me especially were the mutes at the bridge. I've always hated using foam at the bridge because it was usually too extreme of an effect and of course it screws up the intonation, but I've liked the general idea of it. I actually wished that companies would bring back bridge mutes since jazz basses used to have them, of course MM did, Rickenbacker did at one point etc.. So I'm glad to see that MM brought them back with the Classic series.

So I'm anxiously awaiting the start of the week so this can get shipped out. I should have it mid-week. I'm hoping it's a keeper. I've been through about 4 basses so far this year trying to find something I was happy with (I actually have a Carvin PB4 on order too due in August) and I'm hoping that this fits the bill and that unlike the Sterling, it's a MM bass that suits my tastes more.

Thanks for the recommendation. I actually can't stand the Big Al as far as aesthetics go. I'm also a fairly traditional guy and I think there are TOO many options, if that's possible :)
