For those of you afraid to ask, I'll go ahead take the 'dunce cap' and admit that I'm a dumb@$$.  It took me 24hrs to locate the SN on my new Classic Stringray.  I looked the thing over and over, played it all weekend and had no idea where the SN is stamped.  
It's on the bridge under the saddles.
I like to log all my gear with SN in case of theft or other loss. For the life of me I couldn't find the SN until I sat down to tweak the bass setup and saw the SN on the bridge when I was adjusting the saddles.
So there! Now anyone who gets a Classic doesn't have to own up to being as blind as me!
