I'd like some experienced guys ut there to tell me which Ernie Ball SR with all its controls all the way up(vol, bass, treble+ mid for the 3eq) sounds more similar to the 1976 SRs.

Dude, you could tear your own liver out by turning those all the way up. Don't laugh, I've seen it happen.

Given your criteria, I can't really answer, but I can say that the 2 band models sound a bit more like the older (pre-EB) Stingrays to ME.

But again, I have to say, the tonal differences between a pre-EB and a modern-era Stingray are measurements in the twilight zone.

Thanks for the info. Well I know that the difference is pretty small between EB and pre EB, but with the added mid control, it sounds like an entirely different instrument.

Bov, you do not have the knobs fully cranked on your Musicmans? What are your settings for your SRs?

No way. I leave everything flat to begin with, then turn knobs a little bit until it sounds good, then I stop turning the knobs.
