I use Bongo 5 HH and I really love how it sounds. The fact that I love how it sounds, especially the original tone, make me won't color any sound to it with my preamp pedal. I use Ampeg SCRDI for my pedal and set fx loop into my Hx Stomp. In first, I love my bass sound with ampeg, but I recently realise that my bass sound better with ampeg off.

So my question is, is there any preamp pedal that has clean type of sound and not coloring bongo's tone at all? or even make the original tone better.
I have read that bongo's onboard preamp coupled powered with 18v battery is already hot and more than enough, but I still can't get it deeply.

Any response will be appreciated, thanks a lot!

I'm now looking some options to replace scrdi. My thought right now is Mesa Subway Di Pre. Any experience about that pedal?

Any preamp is capable of coloring your tone. I mostly just use a Radial DI. Having an active bass with a great built-in preamp means you shouldn't need another preamp. I figure if you are running through a FOH or FOH and IEM console, you are already adding preamps there, so why add a 3rd or 4th?. I do have a SansAmp and I like that for a little overdrive, but I keep the EQ flat and I don't think it colors the tone very much, if any.

If I were going to buy another preamp, I would definitely look at the Markbass Vintage Pre. I loved the sound of my Markbass amps.
