I just got a John Petrucci BFR KOA and it is unbelievable.

I have a quick question about cleaning, etc

Since the neck is mahogony and the fretboard is ebony, what products would you recomment for cleaning / maintaining ...Is it the same that I would use on the non KOA models .....

I just dont want to risk using the wrong stuff to clean the guitar....

Thanks

I'm pretty sure you could use the EB wonder wipes on the board, but not positive. You'll definitely be able to use them on the body of the guitar. Can you post some pics? I have one on order and I'm curious to see what yours looks like.

This is the photo that they took at the factory of my guitar

Its incredibly beautiful in person, nicest guitar ive ever seen

I wonder if the lemon oil is ok for the neck , and if the gun cleaner stuff they recommend is ok as well

Texas Finally!
Use wonder wipes for the body and neck, the neck is sealed mahogany and just needs a rub down then use a clean polish cloth to finish with, the fretboard can handle the ww fretboard conditioner when needed, I have the KOA ASS and thats what I do to maintain it.

this is what i found on the music man faq page:

Since the neck is finished only with the gunstock oil/wax blend, it is more susceptible to humidity changes. A very infrequent dose of gunstock oil will help to keep the neck maintained; we recommend Birchwood-Casey Tru-Oil, but any good quality gunstock oil will work. Use a small amount, leave it on for just 5 minutes, then it off with a paper towel. After that, apply Birchwood-Casey Gunstock Wax. Be sure to douse the paper towel with water before disposing of it! Read the wax and oil manufacturer's instructions regarding disposal of these used paper towels.

Birchwood-Casey products are available at most sporting goods or gun stores or directly. Their web address is Birchwood Casey

Rosewood fingerboards should not be treated with the gunstock oil; instead they should be treated with a high grade of lemon oil. Again, for cleaning, try using the same high grade of lemon oil to clean the entire neck, both maple and rosewood fretboards. Ernie Ball Wonder Wipes Fretboard Conditioner are excellent for frequent cleaning and maintenance as they are very effective and string removal is not necessary.

How necessary is it that I apply the gunstock oil? Is it ok to apply it to my mahogany neck? And lemon oil for the fingerboard...I noticed it recommends that for reosewood

That doesn't apply to the JP BFR, as the neck is finished (not unfinished/wax sealed bare maple like on the rest of the MM-line). I'd just use the Wonder Wipes Instrument Polish for cleaning the sweat off after playing, as the neck is finished exactly like the body.

The has been some discussion here about the effect of lemon oil on ebony fretboards. I'd personally just get the Wonder Wipes Fretboard Conditioner, as it will certainly work perfectly on your instrument.
