I did a search for this and checked the FAQ's but didn't see anything for my fretboard. It currently has some black coated strings on it that are leaving black gunk on the fretboard. When I change out strings next week I want to clean all that stuff up. So far I have heard orange oil and lemon oil but I wanted to get clarification as I don't want to do anything to screw up the FB. Could someone advise me on what to use? Thanks!

Just use the lemon oil to clean it. It will condition it at the same time:cool:

Thanks Jon.

Where can you buy high grade lemon oil? Is there a specific brand to consider?

if you go to a guitar store, the Kyser brand of Dr.Stringfellow's lem oil is pretty good.

Now is lemon oil a good cleaner/conditioner for other fretboards like maple and rosewood, or strictly for pau ferro?

Works for maple and rosewood as well. I generally dont use lemon oil on maple, though, but thats just me. I believe it works fine.
