Hi everyone,

I am a newbie whose had a trans orange stingray for 6 months and love it to bits. I remember them when they first came out and admired the funky design, odd tuner arrangement. Well some 30+ years later I finally have one!

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a paint to fill a couple of dings? I've read that people sometimes use nail varnish - any recommendations on a good match/technique for filling the ding?

Also, there is a little rust on the magnets on the pickup - any recommendations for removing that without damaging anything?

regards,

For the magnets, don't use steel wool, because little bits of it will stick to the magnets. If you can find non-magnetic stainless wool (try a hardware store or supermarket, and test with a magnet), that will work.

You can often get good results using a Scotch-Brite scrubbing pad, though they usually aren't strong enough to polish metal. I use 'em to buff frets, fingerboards, and sometimes the back of the neck.

Cymbal cleaner for rust spots, on a q-tip, because its acid, and you want to be very careful to only use a little bit.
