Just picked up a Crimson 30th Stingray 4. Love the color and wood so much I was thinking about replacing the black pick guard with a clear one. I've seen it done with a good result on some other models, and was wondereing if anyone had done it with this model, and if so, how did it turn out?

try it out if you dont like it its only a few bucks down the drain but as it does look great with the black with all that beautiful wood grain and color present on that it'd be a shame not to show as much off as possible

Thanks for that pic ekb16b. Seeing all that grain makes me want to do it even more. There is an aftermarket "clear mirror" pick guard which might let most of it show through and set off the chrome at the same time.

Hmmmm... I naver realized how good a 30th would look without a black PG. Clear would likely look amazing. I have a 30th and my 2nd 30th should be here later this week.... I think a clear PG is something I will check out....

I´ve just ordered 4 clear pickguards for my two 30th Anni basses and some others. Good fun. :) I rarely don´t care that much about looks but it just felt right this time. :)

Thanks for the tip, folks! ;)

Didn't you end up with one of the few unlined fretless 30ths? I really want to see a picture of that with a clear pickguard, if you don't mind.

I'm pretty sure I can handle the GAS.

i figured that looking at a bandaid is better than my own stupidity

Just got clear pick guards for my 30th´s delivered today. Will post pics tomorrow. Those basses looks GREAT without no pick guards at all but then there´s the problem with naked screw holes...... More tomorrow. :)

Ok. So now I´ve pimped some of my basses. Sorry for bad pics but I do find it almost impossible to take pics of instruments.... Lots of reflections and ****. And I don´t have a photo studio...... :(

Looks alot better IRL, let me tell you....

A 30th Anniversary looks GREAT without a pickguard but then there is the problem with the screw holes. But this is close enough and I do like it. I also got a clear pickguard for my rather "regular" orange Stingray with matching headstock. Again, it looks SO much better IRL.

I usually don´t really care alot about messing about with instruments but I could not help myself this time...... And it did not cost that much. I´ll keep them like this for awhile. One can always redo it and put the old pickguards back on again.....

Sincerely//Jan
