I'm new here so anyways, Well my stingray bass isn't that new at all, But its new to me since I just got it today from a good friend of mine. All I know about it is that it says stingraybass across the headstock all in one word. Also what I think is odd is that the 3 control knobs don't have the boomerang plate as well as having the input jack on the bottom of the guitar instead of next to the knobs. Also the pickup configuration is to single coil pickups instead of hummbuckers. Any help as to what this basses age is or any other information about it would be great. Also I can't find the serial Number anywhere on the guitar. Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

When I start work in restoring it (If I should) the first thing to go is the sticker! xD

lol Thanks for the welcome guys, How does it sound? It sounds AMAZING! The neck is very nice since its a stingray neck, the pickups have a deep sound to them and a lot of punch, I don't know if its active or not, and the sound even when its not plugged in is amazing. The body is made of ash just like most stingrays are. For the price I got it for I might be able to sell the neck for more then I paid for the whole thing xD. But I doubt I will sell it, I'm defiantly going to restore the body then put new finish on it and maybe even put in hummbuckers. What do you guys think I should do?

If you like it, don't do anything. Play it and don't worry about it, I'd say.

It's really rare to see a Stingray body pop up for sale. It happens, but not often.

No telling if that neck is really worth much. I'm guessing it's been structurally modified to fit a non-MusicMan body and as Rod T says, those tuners are also not original.

If it works for you, why not just play it?

Welcome poptart. I can't help thinking that if you were to start spending money on it, before long, you could've had a SUB instead.

I don't know to take the finish of its going to cost be about $10 then I'm going to make a PG then maybe stain it or something, overall about $50 at most.
EDIT: 50$ won't get me a SUB, will it?

Well, but you also paid something for the bass, right? And besides just knowing that the neck is an SR neck, what kind of shape is it in (literally - straight/twisted/contorted)? Does it need a fret job? And if it were mine, I'd be inclined to replace that bridge with something that has a little more mass. But besides all that, I'm just wondering what kind of playability a project bass like that can have, which is important to me, but it may not be as important to you. And if you like it, how it plays and sounds, that's all that matters.

Send pics again when you're done!

Sadly I'm not in the UK, The bass cost me $50 and its going to cost about $50 to clean it up, so overall about $100 is what I want to spend, The neck is almost perfect, frets are great, no distortion of any kind, even still has the wax finish, only problem is a very tiny and almost not noticeable scratch. Oh don't worry I'll post some pictures when I'm done restoring it, its going to be a fun project :).

I dont know if it helps, but there is a Sabre body and some other bits on ebay, not sure whether the SR neck will fit the Sabre body, but someone will know...they will also ship to the USA....Good luck

I think the pre-EB Stingray and Sabre necks were identical. I recently picked up a pre-EB Stingray with a Sabre neck on it. The neck feels identical to my other pre-EBs...
