Usually go with another string brand, but took a risk on some Cobalt Flats about a month ago.
Within 10 days, all strings, but especially the G string, had severely corroded despite being in a humidity controlled room. This is my second bass, so only receives about an hour of playtime a week.
I’ve sent two messages to Ernie Ball support, simply asking for a set of stainless steel flats to replace these ones. No reply in around three weeks now. I also called up customer service, where I got directed to an answering machine. Left a message a week ago, no one called me back.
The retailer I purchased from (Guitar Center) refuses to refund strings. Trying not to have just burned $50 here, was hoping I’d get at least a year out of a new set of flats. Not two hours of playtime.
Posting here because I’m a bit fed up and would like some kind of resolution.
Photo attached. This cannot be normal, right? The corrosion is terrible.
Thanks
