I seen a thread a little while back and it was about a guy with a Purple Eddie and he just put Cobolts on them, I was on my way home from work today and stopped at Long & Macquade trying to cure my jonesing thinking I need to buy something. Well anyways there I seen them, a black and pink pack of Ernieball Cobalt 9s, thinking I have a purple Eddie and it needs strings on it. I picked them up brought them to the till and they were what? Wait a minute $22.50 for two packs. Normally I could buy 4 packs of slinkys and get change back. Anyways I remembered all the hype and bought them anyways. I am stringing my Eddie right now, gig this weekend, I'll let you know what I think.

Yes the cobalt are around double the price but the wound strings have lasted me 2 months when normally I have to change then weekly. They are still going strong so I won't be changing them for a while. Cobalt rocks!

I just got a couple set that I'm hoping to put on this weekend.
Can't wait to try them.

I've had Cobalts on my JP6 for about two weeks now. I didn't hear much of a tone difference from my usual D'Addario XL's, but what I did notice was how they are staying in tune REALLY well. Just a quick stretch and they were good to go! The XL's took some stretching, tuning, playing, tuning, stretching, and more playing time before they settled in. Worth the money to me!

Highly recommended, put a set on my Silo Special about a month and a half ago, played them a ton (and one show right after the change) and they still sound great. I'm going to switch back to regular slinkys next to see how that feels... but yeah so far worth the cash for sure.
