Played a first gig with fresh set of Cobalts last night just burned in with some home practice before (about 7 days before a gig), ...what to say, ...no more strings hunt after Cobalts!!!

Whole electric bass range is perfectly covered, very focused tone on all strings, at all fret positions, ultimate growl, wow, ...EQ first set flat, bridge H parallel active, ...after sound check just added highs and low mids for only 10%, amp's one knob compressor about 10% too ...and that's all!

Cobalts are for real, ohh yes indeed!

are the Cobalts good for slapping? I currently use Super Slinkys, which I love but may go to the Hybrid gauge .... and possibly go Cobalt unless I hear they're not as good for slap n' pop

Reviving a zombie thread here. I LOVE these strings for my Jazz V and my Stingray 5, the problem is, I tune down a whole step and I can't get a big enough gauged B string, .135 is as big as they get and I had to special order that from bassstringsonline.com with a 55-110 set. I'm hoping the .135 will suffice tuned to A. I like a lot of tension though so I'm doubtful.

I have to echo the Jazz sentiments. I put them on my backup Squier VM 5 and MAN! They make this sub $300 bass sound like a million bucks! Very even tone across the entire board PLUS after 2 months they still sound fresh. I play this bass alot, and these strings hold their sparkle a long time.

I've had Cobalts on my SR5 for over a year now... (yes, the same set for more than a year). I still love them.

Yes, the same set for more than 3 basses !
I've had one set of Cobalts since they first
came out, and it's FINALLY found a home,
on my new-old fretted Sterling SUB Bass.

I'm not generally into RW [nor frets for that
matter] but this combination lays down the
groove for an AfroLatin percussion group. I
can remain audible without needing a lotta
volume, cuz the tone is so vibrant.

I play it thru a 250W 2x6 combo [no typo]
and I don't have the ax nor the amp fully
cranked. It's got tone that refuses to melt
into the mix, doesn't get buried, and holds
its own at reasonable volume. WaY KewL !

Finally I've found 1 pack in my country. So now it powers my rosewood SR. Not the first cobalts on my basses but it is stunning me every time I put it on. Gonna make some recordings in 1.5 weeks with that cobalt loaded SR)
