Out of curiosity, has anyone ever modified theit dual pickup Stingray. I've wondered how coils 1 & 3 would sound? Would it even be possible to change, say...position 5 from coils 3 & 4 to 1 & 3. I find myself using that position the least.

I'm not sure about this, but I'll hazard a guess that it might be noisy. Those coils are both the 'North' coils of a humbucking pickup. I always thought that for humbucking to work right, there has to be an opposing 'South' coil. Positions 1&2, 1&4, 2&3, 3&4, and 1&2&3&4 are all combinations of N&S coils. The 2&4 option nor the 1&3 are offered and I suspect that it is because they are both the same polarity coil.

Thanks Bob....I assumed noise would be an issue, and figured there would have to be a hidden single coil to make it work. Not to fear though...my basses are staying as is! I was just curious, more than anything.
