Easier and cheaper to sell your current bass and buy a new one-a refinished bass loses a bunch of value. It will cost you a couple of hundred dollars to do a decent quality refin, and now you have a bass that's worth a couple hundred less than if it were the original finish. EBMMs are very consistent-you'll find a new one that you'll like just as much as the one you have now.

Amen! Maybe also offer it for trade for what you want.

I agree with everyone above. Put it up on Ebay and buy a new one.To get your bass refinished with a paint job as good as an EBMM paint job will cost mucho dinero. How long have you had it? Mabye you could keep it a little while longer and see if it grows on you?

And black, while certainly popular and approriate in almost any setting, is....well, it's black.

Sapphire black, on the other hand, brings something new to the....blackness.

Someone here, and I'm not sure of his real name but some call him Lord Bongo, has had a sapphire black Bongo for years now (time flies no matter what the hell is going on) and loves it.

Um, so I hear.

the it's just jack,

Jack

You know I've been thinking Jack. When I was thinking about what my next Bongo would be, I was pretty sure it was gonna be sapphire black. However, I had the "misfortune" of picking up the Black one used, and I must say that I think I am happier with Black instead of the Sapphire Black. Plus it looks more like a penguin, and as a person who has loved penguins since the 1st grade this excites me greatly.

Well yeah. I mean, the more like Arctic waterfowl my bass is, the happier I am. I guess I just figured everyone felt the same way.

If you want black, just set it on fire. Tony Levin has got a nice example of refinishing a bass black using fire. Might smell a bit afterwards but no worse than the smell of drying lacquer.

May be a BIT weak, but those penguin feet totally ROCK!

EB should consider this as an option, it would do away with the requirement for guitar stands!!!

Sorry... it's early monday morning :p

If you really want to refinish your bass, I recommend either Michael Dolan in California or Pat Wilkins. It will probably run you between $250-$300.

Both of those guys are excellent, but I wonder if they would charge more for a Bongo refin....back of the neck, headstock......gotta match, you know?
