I LOVE South America -- the people, the landscape, the FOOD. Who knows... maybe I'll even be buried there...

The same here ! For my job I made several trip to Bolivia during the 90's and to Colombia. The landscapes are beautiful, you always receive a warm welcome and the FOOD. Yes ! Truly, the food is fantastic.
Besides, Spanish is quite easy to learn for a Frenchman

I will never say NO to a trip to South America

Yes very obvious one....hehehe FOr those drenched in Marmite or vegimite Colombia has a product that they grow that is centered around crime and violence

Now how about not arguing with me and hijacking a very nice thread.

I stand corrected Australians dont know that Colombia is one of the worlds drug centers.

i did know that. nevertheless i dont speak for every australian...

i was expecting a different answer, something that related more specifically to americans since you said that people say it isnt safe for americans.

I agree! I was just in Chile a month ago helping rebuild after the earthquake/tsunami and it was so awesome down there! Large amounts of good food, kind people and the scenery was stunning
