OK
I KNOW this is all very personal subjecture but am having a hard time :)

OK, say you can buy a brand new Fully Loaded JP6 next week.

What colour would you pick?

These are one's I am actually interested in/having a problem deciding over .

White
Carbon Blue Pearl
Desert Gold
Buttercream

Thanks for any/all input as I am getting a headache deciding on what is/should be such a joy :)

I am not too flamboyant which is part reason for these colours, also the white/buttercream should be easier to "touch-up" if needed if the unfortunate but normal ding should happen.

IMHO the Petrucci looks best with the darker colours such as carbon blue pearl, mystic dream, pearl redburst. There is CBP color on your list so that would be my choice

Well Desert Gold is way too flashy for me. I saw it in person and dont like it all that much. Carbon Blue is real nice, which is what I orderd on my Luke. Saphire Black is also real nice and Graph PEarl also looks reall good on a JP. These 3 that I mentioned are down to earth kinda colors but look reall good and unique at the same time. But Buttercream is also REAL nice.

Edit:
Sweet bajesus! How many times did I say "real nice"? lol

I actually like the DG in the Petrucci, I think OrangeChannel has some photos in his posts of that color.

CBP would be next, I agree with the others that the Pet looks better in the darker colors. I know there is a lot of love out there for the PRB but it doesn't work as much for me and I believe that, although it is a JP color exclusive, it is the most popular JP color so you see it a lot. My local shop always makes his stock order in PRB.

I have always preferred the Buttercream on instruments with the tort guard to provide some contrast. I don't think its the same with a uniform body.

Either way I'm a fan of the matching headstock with the rosewood board (as opposed to the natty headstock with a maple board) Matching compliments, while natty on rosewood adds a third color that doesn't always belong.

Just my pocket change (I got 2 cents on me right now)

EDIT:

just to translate: color = colour in your native tongue :p

Thanks guys
keep em coming :)

buttercream is an upcharge and not convinced totally, just like the vintage look (like the binding on my Les Paul).
White I thought for dings as said.
But BLUE is my fave colour so like the Carbon Blue too :) Gonna show every darn fingerprint though :(
Glad someone chimed in about the Desert Gold. It is HARD to tell from pics about the true colours. I have only seen/played a Graphite Pearl and it did'nt do it for me.

My "other" forum I visit is bareknucklepickups (top guys and TOP product btw) and there I have started a Poll :)
Seem's UK guys are liking Carbon Blue with buttercream and Desrt Gold lagging behind and white left on starting line lol.

If I ever have the justification to have another JP6 (and assuming that they don't come with maple tops by that time), I would buy a WHITE jp6 with matching headstock.

I think the guitar looks fantastic in that color.

You can probably eliminate buttercream from your list since it was a limited edition and they do not offer it anymore... unless you can find a store that has one on their shelves...

J-Nick, know of (ahem.....) 6 Buttercreams for sale.

However, er indoors has spoken (and I am partial to er indoors :) and her choice anyway).
So, will publically say.

CARBON BLUE PEARL

hear that Pete? :) Sorry mate, but will stop "dithering" now, promise :)

Good choice, can't go wrong with blue

I wouldn't have chosen buttercream for a jp... it is a great color but to me it matches better with vintage type guitars like the Sil. spec.

Well
originally liked the "vintage" idea (ala binding on my Les Paul), however, you are right (IMO), the JP is a more modern instrument that (as some have said) looks v.nice in darker colours :)

Good name BTW :)

White
Carbon Blue Pearl
Desert Gold

When I picked up mine from Pete's store during the clinic. I couldn't make up my mind either. Personally, I did not like the Carbon Blue that much. Too dark IMO. I was surprised on how much I really liked the Desert Gold. I eventually talked myself out of it - it looked too orange. Then I flipped over to the white and thought it was cool but a little 'boring' looking. Finally I said Hell, I'll go with the Pearl Redburst cuz the birdseye was pretty sick and the guitar was lighter than the others which I like.

I would have liked to see a Graphite Pearl. Lava Pearl is a cool color too. YMMV.

Lou, Pete had a Lava Pearl Bongo there. It was the first time I had seen the color up close and personal. I liked, not really orangey, kind of a cross between red and orange.
