Had the chance to try out my bongo last weekend in a band setting for the first time....wow

It's killer. It pierces thru everything like a spear. We played with keys, drums and guitar and i was ALL alone in my spectrum as master of my domain. For a 4 hour practice sessions it was amazingly confortable as it stays perfectly in a great balance and is super lightweight. I think it's lighter than my sterling which is a featherweight.

Going back to my title, i've been playing my SR5 and my bongo4 and i feel like comparing the two a little bit. BP likes cars, so it's kinda funny that was the first comparison reference that came to my mind.

SR5: it's my 60's Cadillac it looks a old school, can definately sound old school too (with the single coil position). Heavy and BIG. can sound a little more modern with the different switches options.

Bongo: sleek modern and feels like a small sports car (kinda like a BMW Z3). Yes i know about the design team joint venture :)

Very different, i'm taking down my for trade ad for the SR5 as i want to keep these 2 basses.

i'm quite lucky to own these basses.

That 20th SR5 will do that to a man!!!! I kind of grew apart with my 20th and put it up for sale. But then you take it out and play a little and it's like magic all over again!

Using your car analogy, I think of my '78 SR4 like driving a 70's muscle car - just fun as heck and it roars down the street. My '06 SR5 is like a van that seats 12 - it's perfect for just about any situation. My '07 Dargie Bongo fretless is like a powerful yet smooth 2 seater sports car - not for everyday but you feel like James Bond when you've got her out. My '08 Bongo 5 is a bada$$ SUV - tricked rims, smokin engine, pure beef.

The only thing I'm selling are my non-MM basses.
