Looking for another EB to add to the collection. I really love my Axis SS and want to get something similar, ie neck- but want to have something a little different.
New thoughts on the Y2D, 20th Ann, or a EVH.....

Neck? compared to the SS
Sound?

Thanks for the input.

well the Y2D neck is thinnner than all the ones you mentioned, i'm surprised how thin it is. both my Axis SS's have nice slightly chunky necks, whihc is fine for me. My Y2D neck is like my Silo Special neck, thin, which i dont mind, i have small thin hands anyway.

cant tell you about a 20th silo, in a few weeks i will!

I could easily switch between my Morse, Y2D and EVH at a gig without any problems or need to readjust. Not that I'd take them all to a gig anyway.

Any info guys on the sound of the singe coil and coil taps on the Morse guitar?

More specifically, would you say they are more tele or Statty in tonality... if at all?

so far i'm finding the Y2D sound interesting, no strat sounds at all really, the single coil in the middle switch position is really quiet. in position 4 you get middle/bridge which isnt like a strat on position 4. Position 2 is neck/bridge which weird, its not a sound you hear very much, and its nothing like a strat. greta humbucker sounds though, the other sounds are more tele than strat.

silo special or luke are more stratty guitars to compare.

How about the neck compared to a Luke? I know the y2D doesn't have the "V" but is one more skinny (measured from where you place your thumb to the fretboard) than the other? How about the width of the necks?

I will have to disagree with ya on that one. I raise that single coil on both of my Morse guitars and get the perfect sweet home Alabama sound. My favorite sound is the two humbuckers together clean.

well i dont want to mess with the pickup height just yet!!! at the moment i dont really hear the Alabama tone at all, not even close actually. my silo special and the luke can do it much more authentically. rasing that single coil might be a good idea, its pretty quiet, though it must have a purpose being the way it is....

EDIT- ok just went and fiddled with it, its kinda close to the Alabama tone using the Y2D single coil, passable for sure , but it aint no strat position 4 sound. doesnt mean i'm gonna pick up my strat though!!!
