Well, you can't put the EBMM compensated nut on your non-compensated guitar. I'm sure you could get someone to put a different compensated nut on your guitar. EBMM will not retrofit your guitar for you, and I doubt they will sell you an EBMM compensated nut unless it's meant to replace a compensated nut that was on an instrument when it left the factory.

Both. The compensated nut requires a bigger rout, and if your guitar didn't come with one, I don't think they'd give or sell you one. You can, of course, ask customer service and check with them.

Easiest way would be replacing your current nut with one from EARVANA as that one is adjustable after installation and will prevent the need of additional woodwork on your guitar (which enables you to "downgrade" later if desired).

I'm also quite sure EBMM will not change the nut on your axe to a compensated, neither sell you a spare if the guitar was not initially fitted with one.

There is a thread is the Bass section about the new EB Strap Locks.

I found Thomman in Germany advertising them as being available but BP said they can't be EBs because they're not made yet.

Read this thread on the discussion regarding compensated nuts, retrofits, etc.

http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/21182-big-poppa-i-dont-mean-drive-you-nuts-but.html

Earvana and EBMM are/were involved in a legal dispute regarding compensated nut. BP contends that EBMM had the compensated nut first. I believe that Earvana alleges that they had it first. Call me a fanboy or just someone with blind loyalty. I'm on EBMM's side, and out of my own personal sense of loyalty to BP, Dudley, and the rest of EBMM, I personally wouldn't deal with Earvana. You can if you want, but I won't.

EBMM has made great guitars with or without compensated nuts. They have made guitars that are beyond my wildest dreams. They continue to make even better ones. BP and others from EBMM give me free advice (esp. Jon Smith). Dan McPherson at customer service gave me great treatment when I needed a part from them. He sent it and didn't ask for any money even though it was someone else's product that failed, not EBMM's. They have also given me two nights of free food, free drink, and free entertainment at Jack's (bovinehost) birthday party in Dallas last year. If I had gone to the Open House in 2005, that would have meant two weekends like that. They have brought Luke, Dave LaRue, Marty Albertson of GC, and other people so we could meet them and talk to them. They have given us the opportunity to be entertained by Luke and others for free. When I met him, BP shook my hand and knew who I was from just this place on the internet, and he remembered where I was from even though we had never met. EBMM continues to treat us well day after day. So, my loyalty is to EBMM, and I'm not even going to consider dealing with that other company.

I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do. People can make their own decisions. I'm just telling you the situation as I know it. I don't know what has come of those legal issues. I just know whose side I'm on and how I'm going to support them.
