Hi Guys.. Hoping you might be able to give me a bit of a hand with this one.

Basically, I have been given the task of setting up and pseudo restoring a family friends guitar.

It's a mid 50's twin-neck Gibson Console Grand. It has 8 strings a neck.

I have established the most common tuning is C6 on the near neck and E9 on the far neck.

I see that EB sell pedal steel string packs that consist of 10 individual strings per pack. However, none of these packs are currently in stock in Perth.
While i will be ordering some...
In the interim, I was hoping to make a set from a number of standard packs.

So, can anybody tell me...

On an the first eight-string neck, should I be using:

High C6 tuning?
A-C-E-G-A-C-E-G.
or
Low C6 tuning?either:
G-A-C-E-G-A-C-E.
F-A-C-E-G-A-C-E.

On an the second eight-string neck, should I be using:

E9..western swing tuning?
E-G♯-B-D-F♯-G♯-B-E,

And...Once I've confirmed the above..What i really need to establish:

What is the most common corresponding string gauges for each string/tuning?

I've had no experience or exposure to eight-strings and my knowledge of open tunings doesn't go further then bad Stones renditions, so any advice or direction would really Really REALLY be appreciated :)

Thanks again..
